LeapXperience Batch 3: Saving The Planet
LeapXperience Batch 3 began in July 2024 with the theme SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 14: Life Below Water. This batch was joined by enthusiastic elementary and middle school students who were eager to explore environmental challenges and create real solutions for their communities.
Focusing on climate change and ocean protection, the students investigated issues such as rising temperatures, air pollution, mangrove loss, marine debris, and threats to marine ecosystems. These themes were selected because of their urgent relevance both globally and locally, especially for coastal regions like Surabaya. Throughout the program, students learned through hands-on activities, expert sharing sessions, and guided research to understand the root causes of these environmental issues.
For 12 months, the students met regularly to analyze the problems, brainstorm ideas, and develop creative solutions—from designing environmental board games, creating conservation-themed products, to writing storybooks that raise awareness about mangroves and climate change.
Their solutions were proudly presented at the TED-Ed Students Talk Event, where they delivered their ideas with confidence and shared their perspectives on climate action and ocean protection.

Ecopoly: Play Now, Save the Planet
Solution:
Ecopoly is an eco-friendly board game designed by Abel to educate players about climate change, pollution, and green actions through interactive quizzes and game zones. Abel began by researching environmental problems, gathering creative game ideas, building the board prototype and quiz cards, and finally showcasing and play-testing it at the fair while listening to players’ feedback. The impact was strong—more than 50 people played Ecopoly, and many shared that the game helped them become more aware of their carbon footprint and the importance of mangrove ecosystems.

Mangrove Warrior App: Explore, Report, Protect!
Solution:
Mangrove Warrior is a community-centered mobile app concept designed to bring people closer to the hidden world of mangroves. Inspired by a field trip where students saw an empty, poorly maintained mangrove park, the project was created to help people learn, care, and take action for these vital ecosystems. With features like Ask AI for instant learning, issue reporting, park maps, and donation support, Mangrove Warrior makes conservation accessible to everyone. The idea received enthusiastic feedback from teachers and visitors, who appreciated how the app design empowers communities to protect mangroves and understand their role in climate protection.
